ETIAS Hungary for British
ETIAS APPLICATIONThe ETIAS for Hungary will soon be a mandatory requirement for all British citizens visiting that country and any other Schengen member states. This requirement will be introduced for citizens of all third countries that currently have a visa waiver agreement.
The Electronic Travel Information Authorisation System is not a visa but an electronic travel permit. UK travellers will be able to register for the ETIAS for Hungary entirely online in a matter of a few minutes.
Hungary entry requirements from the UK
To enter Hungary from the UK, travellers must have a passport that was issued no earlier than 10 years before their trip and is valid for at least 3 months after they will leave the Schengen area.
With the launch of the ETIAS, the passport validity will likely be reduced to 3 months from the date of entry in Hungary. In addition, all visitors must have a valid ETIAS.
The Hungary ETIAS will be valid for 3 years, unless the passport expires first, and allows British citizens to spend a maximum of 90 days within every 180 days in the country.
Multiple entries will be permitted for tourism, transit, short-term business, and study.
When will ETIAS be necessary to travel from the UK to Hungary?
The ETIAS launch does not have an official date yet but is expected to happen in 2026. After the official launch date, ETIAS will be necessary to travel from the UK to Hungary.
Presently, UK nationals are free to travel to Hungary without the need for a visa, as long as they meet travel entry requirements and they do not stay longer than 90 days out of 180 days.

The entire process will take a few minutes and British visitors can fill out the form from anywhere in the world, before travelling to the Schengen zone.
